Looking for a new way to explore off-the-beaten-path communities? Long Island Traditions interviews everyday people to give you an authentic look into communities of yesterday and today.

On this tour, you will learn more about places in the Hudson Valley. Some that are not even known to many locals. In Rhinebeck on the East side of the Hudson River, listen to the story of how the town turns into a winter fantasy on the first Saturday in December of each year with the celebration of Sinterklaas. Cross the river to Kingston and then hear about the Seal College. Where California Sea Lions are trained for fame in the entertainment industry from Vaudeville to the Ed Sullivan Show. Next is the Pine Street African Burial Grounds which brings to light the lives of African slaves and freed Africans through their final resting places. And finally, a trip to the Rondout, where a bakery produced a roll that tied diverse communities together.
