Welcome to the Garden of the Gods city park and National Natural Landmark! You will soon realize why people have ALWAYS been drawn here. Over 4 million visitors experience the park each year.
Garden of the Gods Park, with its vertical red rocks and
Pikes Peak views, is recognized worldwide as a majestic landmark of the American West.
Three of North America’s major ecosystems converge within the park boundaries; the prairie grasslands of the Great Plains meet the dry woodlands of the American Southwest, and merge with the evergreen forests of the Rocky Mountains.
The Garden’s varied rock formations, when combined with Pikes Peak, reveal one of the most extensive displays of Earth’s natural history found in North America.
The park is known as a cultural crossroads where American Indians, early explorers, “Pikes Peak or Bust” gold-seekers, homesteaders and health seekers all were drawn to the red rock formations that mark the dramatic meeting place of the Great Plains with the Rocky Mountains.
Garden of the Gods park is also home to the
Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a working ranch with live farm animals, educators in period clothing and a great place to truly experience our local history. This living history museum is supported by the Living History Association.
More information and free park maps are available at the
Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. Here you can support the free park through any purchases made. You can find daily educational programs, guided hikes and tours, rentals and so much more. There is a free museum along with shopping, dining,
Jr. Ranger booklets and even the official park’s guide book.
