Bird Island Park

This tour is a mini wildlife safari off of the A1A Scenic Byway in southern Florida. The tour focuses on Florida's ecological habitat and the many different animals you may see on your visit.

Bird Island Park is in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It is north of Guana River State Park and St. Augustine beach. The Park is adjacent to the Ponte Vedra Beach Library. Bird Island is the first park travelers will encounter when heading south along the A1A Scenic Byway.

The park is home to the Bird Island rookery, one of many bird migratory sites along the Great Florida Birding Trail.

This walking audio tour features 15 sites each with stories about the ecosystems of Northeast Florida. It highlights native flora and fauna with stories about wild boar, the diamondback rattlesnake, and great horned owl. You will learn about the American alligator as you walk on boardwalks through the marsh.

If you continue along the Scenic Byway, there is another TravelStorys tour to accompany you. A1A Scenic Byway tour takes you on 72 miles of scenic coastal roadway with history and culture around every corner.

The A1A Scenic Byway tour is available in both Spanish and English!
