if you’re lucky enough to see a Luna moth you won’t likely forget it! Lunas are large moths, with lime green wings about the length of a popsicle stick! They have a white body and pinkish legs, a beautiful combination. These moths aren’t rare, but they only live as adults for about a week - just enough time to mate and lay eggs. Adult luna moths do not eat – in fact, they don’t even have a mouth! Even though the lunas don’t eat, there are several animals that like to eat them – especially bats. To protect themselves from predators, moths spin the long tails of their wingtips in circles which, along with the eye spots on their wings, confuses predators.
